Federal agents are now investigating a Windermere home invasion involving masked men dressed like ninjas and its possible ties to similar cases in South Florida.

Bill Kitchen and his partner told police they drove into their garage on the 11500 block of Lake Butler Drive Wednesday, April 30 and found three masked men with weapons.

"They were quite threatening,” said Bill Kitchen, the victim. “If I didn't, they said I wouldn't like the outcome, so I did what they asked."

The couple caught the robbers in the act with their home surveillance system.

The masked burglars tied them up and stole cash, other valuables and one of the cars. That car has been recovered.

Investigators believe the suspects may be linked to similar home invasions that happened at mansions in the Naples area earlier this year. Windermere police is working with the Collier County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The couple is planning a news conference for 6 p.m. Tuesday.
