Orange County Public School teachers have voted in favor of a 5.5 percent pay raise.

Union teachers approved the pay raise in a new contract Tuesday.

At least 99 percent of all teachers will receive a $2,475 raise. Seven percent of those teachers, who are considered highly-effective in evaluations, will receive $300 more.

Teachers will start receiving the raises next month. The raise is also retroactive to the start of the 2013-2014 school year.

The union and school district have been at odds over a new contract for the past couple of years. A special magistrate had to step in to get a deal reached.
