The boyfriend of the mother who was shot and killed in her Orange County home Wednesday is now the prime suspect in her death.

Orange County deputies arrested John Michael DeJesus for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen firearm. Deputies are not elaborating into why they believe DeJesus killed Yoliz Marie DeJesus Borrero, 22.

DeJesus Borrero's two children, a toddler and a 4 month old, are with relatives but DCF is also investigating the safety of the children.

Teodoro Valle said his friend John Michael DeJesus arrived at his door frantic Wednesday morning.

"He come in like crazy.  Someone killed my wife. Somebody killed his wife," said Valle.

Valle says DeJesus brought the two children over; one was covered in their mother's blood after witnessing the violence.

Valle said the incident won't be easy to forget "long time to take that out my mind. You know."

When detectives arrived they say they found cocaine.

The arrest report says DeJesus admitted to being a drug dealer and a member of the Latin Kings gang.  He was arrested after deputies found cocaine in the house.

But deputies said his story had inconsistencies and he became uncooperative. Deputies said new evidence suggested his original story was false. He originally claimed his home was invaded by three armed masked men.

“Detectives are confident that there are no three persons – no three Hispanic males that knocked on the door – the incident appears to have been fabricated in an effort to, I guess, clear him or to exonerate himself,” said Jeff Williamson of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

DeJesus has had his own run-ins with law enforcement in the past.

He served time for sexual battery on a child between the age of 12 and 16 in 2006.

One close friend, who didn't want to be identified, said Dejesus was 19 when it happened and didn't realize the girl was underage. The friend said DeJesus has been trying to turn his life around since having his baby.
