No criminal charges are expected to be filed against the woman who said she accidentally shot her husband early Sunday morning near Ormond Beach, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

"Based on the Volusia County Sheriff's Office's investigation and the preliminary results from (Monday's) autopsy by the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office, there have been no findings of any criminal offense related to Sunday's death of Sanford Olson," Gary Davidson, public information officer for the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, wrote in an email.

The official cause of death won't be determined until the final autopsy report is issued, Davidson said.

Deputies responded to a home on Seabreeze Drive around 2:52 a.m. in regard to a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found Olson, 55, dead on a bed inside the home with a gun next to him.

Witnesses said Olson's wife, 57-year-old Doris Barrells, shot him. She then ran to a neighbor's house and called 911, stating the shooting was an accident.

Barrells was taken into custody and questioned by investigators. According to a neighbor, the couple had a history of squabbles but no hardcore fighting.
