The Orange County Sheriff's Office said Congressman Alan Grayson, D-District 9, will not be arrested for an domestic incident involving his wife.

Lolita Grayson filed for an injunction against Grayson, claiming he pushed her during an argument on March 1.

According to deputies, Lolita Grayson called the Sheriff's Office, complaining that her husband was at their home, and that he was present to cause problems. When dispatch asked if she was physically hurt, she said she had pushed him.

The next day the deputies had to go to Dr. Phillips Hospital after they got a call that Lolita Grayson had allegedly been pushed up against a door by her husband, and was bruised. She said she then kneed him in the stomach.

Rep. Grayson denied the charges and released video showing his confrontation with his wife, which he'd had a staffer take while there to pick up some things. The video appears to show Lolita Grayson trying to strike Grayson, and Grayson backing away.

Lolita Grayson's attorney responded with pictures of bruises she said she got when Grayson pushed her against a door. She said she then pushed her husband in the face to protect herself.

Grayson's attorney also released a statement from the couple's daughter Skye, who witnessed the fight. She said she saw her mother slap her father, and that at no time did she see him hit her.

The Sheriff's Office investigated the case and interviewed the Graysons. Deputies said Lolita Grayson's accounts differed between the intial interview, the phone call and what it said in the injunction she filed. They also said nothing in her account was seen in the video. Deputies found there was no probably cause to arrest Grayson.

The couple is due in court for a hearing later this month.

Grayson's office issued this statement Friday:

"Today the Orange County Sheriff’s Department confirmed what we have known all along: Congressman Grayson did nothing wrong. We are relieved that this ridiculous ordeal is over, and that the Congressman can continue to focus on taking care of his family and serving his constituents.”

Lolita Grayson's attorneys said they will not comment on pending civil matters.

Rep. Alan Grayson represents the Ninth District in the U.S. house, which includes all of Osceola County and parts of Orange and Polk counties.
