A Marion County mother is recovering from emergency surgery after investigators said her 13-year-old daughter and a teen boy tried to kill her and her husband.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said the 13-year-old girl lured her mother into the garage of their Ocala home Sunday to check out noises.

When she did, the teen's 15-year-old boyfriend unleashed a vicious attack.

Investigators said the boyfriend then slashed the mother’s throat. The father, who deputies said was inside the home, heard the commotion and the teen boy went inside and put the knife to the father’s throat.

The Sheriff’s Office said the father pleaded with the teen to take his wife to the hospital and the teen dropped the mother off at Munroe Regional Medical Center.  She was later transferred to the trauma unit at Ocala Regional Medical Center, deputies said.

The father was not injured.

Neighbors said the teen girl seemed troubled.

“She always seemed quiet down,” said Dana, a neighbor. “Sometimes you would see that she was crying or depressed.”

Deputies said the girl was upset because her parents didn't want her to see the boy. They said her Facebook page shows the teens spent the past week coming up with a plan to kill them.

"So they hatched this plan where the girl would lure the mom to the garage. At that point, the 15-year-old actually cut her throat with a knife,” said Judge Cochran, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

The teens have been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and attempted second-degree murder. Both teens are being held in the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center without bond.

The Florida Department of Children and Families is also involved in the investigation.

We're told the State Attorney's Office will investigate and decide whether the teens will face adult charges.
