Gov. Rick Scott was in Orange County Monday to highlight an $80 million commitment to cancer research.

Scott spoke about the "It's Your Money Tax Cut Budget" while joined by leaders from University of Florida Health and Orlando Health.

The budget includes $60 million for existing Florida cancer centers and another $20 million for research grants.

The governor said it’s a $30 million increase from last year’s budget.

"This investment will make Florida have more nationally recognized cancer treatment and research institutions,” Scott said. “It will go towards helping existing Florida cancer centers become NCI designated and help Florida become the best state in the nation for cancer research."

National Cancer Institute centers are state-of-the-art centers, which provide the latest medical discoveries to patients.
