A Volusia County landfill worker is facing several charges after deputies said he stole materials from the landfill and then sold them to scrap yards for cash.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office arrested Korey Woulard, 45, at his DeLand home Sunday.

Investigators said Woulard took 3,485 pounds of materials, such as copper, batteries and brass, from the Tomoka Landfill where he works and sold them to a DeLand recycling business.

The Sheriff’s Office said since August, Woulard earned a total of $3,723.82 from selling the materials.

Woulard was charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and violation of the secondary metal recyclers act.
