Rain chances have lessened slightly for Sunday, but we still could see rain for the Daytona 500.

Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast through the overnight hours.  With the absence of daytime heating, storms will no longer be a concern, however, a few showers will still be possible.  The moisture around, along with light wind, will allow for the development of fog heading toward daybreak.  Overnight lows will drop into the low 60s, with some cooler spots in the upper 50s.

Daytona 500 forecast

Sunday, the front will lift north again as a warm front, causing our winds to turn to the south, which will pump in warm and humid air. Highs on Sunday will run in the lower 80s. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue with the frontal boundary nearby.

As the Daytona 500 kicks off at 1 p.m. Sunday, expect mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers, easterly winds at about 5 mph and a temperature of about 79 degrees.

Wet weather continues into the workweek

Unsettled weather will continue Monday and Tuesday, warranting rain chances for both afternoons, but activity will be widely scattered.

A stronger cold front will arrive Wednesday into Thursday, with a renewed chance of widespread showers and storms, followed by cooler temperatures for the balance of the workweek.
