A teenager was arrested in Lake County after a hardware store robbery led to a manhunt for several miles across part of Clermont that briefly put several neighborhoods on lockdown.

Clermont police and Lake County deputies set up a a perimeter around hundreds of homes southwest of the interchange at U.S. Highway 27 and State Road 50 as they searched for a suspect wanted for holding up and robbing nearby Ace Hardware store.

No one was hurt in the robbery, police said.

Family Christian Center School, on U.S. 27 just south of State Road 50, was also locked down during the search, alarming parents like Jessica Pendley.

"It's really scary. I'm glad they do lock the school down in situations like this," said Pendley. "I've got two kids in school up there, so it's really scary when something like this happens."

Clermont police eventually found and apprehended the 17-year-old suspect. We are not identifying the teen because of his age. Please view our Crime Guidelines for more information.

Police said they also took the teen's mother in for questioning.
