Longtime Disney executive and former Walt Disney World president Meg Crofton is stepping down.

Crofton will retire from her current job as president of operations for parks and resorts in the U.S. and France, in June 2015.

Sources close to Walt Disney World said the announcement was made in an internal castmember publication.

Crofton has been with Disney 35 years. She joined Disney in 1977 as a marketing manager and was promoted through the ranks to become president for Walt Disney World parks and resorts.

She was promoted to her current position in January 2013.

Crofton, a Rollins College alumna, is well-known in the community. She's served on the boards of the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness, Orlando Health and Rollins College. She's also a former member of the UCF Board of Trustees.
