A Brevard County woman is spending Christmas Eve in jail after she was arrested driving with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit and hitting a teenager before crashing into two cars.

The incident happened around 6:20 p.m. Monday on State Road 520 and Banana River Drive.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said 32-year-old Sally Quirk, of Rockledge, hit a 17-year-old girl with her car. Quirk's daughters, ages 4 and 5, were in the backseat.

Quirk then fled the scene, running a nearby red light and striking two more vehicles.

Brevard County judge Benjamin Garagozlo on Wednesday set Quirk's bond at $63,500. Quirk didn't say much during court appearance, but she did ask the judge for a reduced bond because she's supposed to start school in two weeks.

Garagozlo denied her request. If she is released, the judge provided Quirk with special conditions.

"You are not permitted to operate any vehicle whatsoever," Garagozlo said. "No consumption, please. You will have a scrambe device, which will detect the presence of alcohol on your person, and the GPS so we know your whereabouts."

Several witnesses called 911 to report the crash.

"There is a big wreck right in front of me," a man told the dispatcher. "Straight in front of me. There was children involved."

The suspect's daughters were injured in the second crash and rushed to Cape Canaveral Hospital. Troopers said one of the girls had minor injuries, while the other sustained more serious injuries to her face. The girls were released to family members, according to the Florida Department of Children and Families.

The teen was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center and is in serious condition after undergoing surgery.

Troopers said Quirk's blood alcohol level was .232. She was also briefly hospitalized for the high levels before being transported to jail.

In addition to the DUI charge, Quirk was charged with leaving the scene of a crash, running a red light and child endangerment. The jail said this is Quirk's second DUI arrest.

DCF said Quirk has a third child, a 10-year-old, who was not in the car at the time of the crash.

Quirk's next court appearance has been set for Jan. 29.
