Two men planning to fight each other in Volusia County never got the chance after police in Daytona Beach said one of them shot the other Thursday.
Nihason Letang told police he and the alleged shooter agreed to fight near Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard and College Park Drive, just southeast of the Bethune-Cookman University campus.
But when the other man showed up, he reached his arm out of his vehicle and started shooting, hitting Letang in the hip.
Police said the shooter was Courtney Reid, 22, of Holly Hill. Officers managed to track down and arrest the 22-year-old.
Reid was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail early Friday morning on an attempted murder charge.
