SpaceX has delayed Friday's launch of a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The earliest launch attempt is now January 6.

According to SpaceX, a recent static fire test did not run the full duration.

Out of an abundance of caution they are opting to execute a second static fire test before the launch.

The company says that given the extra time needed for data review and testing and limited launch date availability because of the holidays and other restrictions, the earliest launch opportunity is now that first week of January.

The Falcon 9 rocket launch will carry supplies to the International Space Station.

As part of the launch, SpaceX also plans to land the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket on a barge, part of future plans to try and save rocket parts and save money.
