When Disney does reveal its new "Star Wars" attractions next year, they will not be based on the movies we all know -- but on the films to come.

Walt Disney Co. Chief Bob Iger reiterated that there would be a much larger "Star Wars" presence in all of the Disney Parks during the Variety Dealmakers Breakfast Wednesday.

Variety reports Iger also told attendees that early development for a Star Wars expansion involved rides based off the first six "Star Wars" movies. But Iger stopped that early development because he didn't want theme park guests to be disappointed with the parks after seeing the new "The Force Awakens" next year.

Iger also said what he wants to see develop for the theme parks is a blend of the past, present and the future.

Iger also said he keeps telling "The Force Awakens" director JJ Abrams that the future of the franchise and Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm all hinges on the success of the new movie.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters Dec. 18, 2015.

Disney expects to reveal details of new "Star Wars" attractions next year.
