The Kim C. Hammond Justice Center in Flagler County is closed Wednesday afternoon because of a water main break, officials said.

Construction crews that were repairing a broken sewer line in front of the courthouse inadvertently caused the water main to break, said Ludmilla Lelis, spokeswoman for the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.

"Because the building cannot be open to the public without working water, it was decided that the courthouse would be closed for the remainder of the day," Lelis said.

Repairs continue, and the courthouse is expected to reopen Thursday morning, Lelis said.

The broken sewer line in front of the courthouse has caused a road closure for months.
