Drier air moved in quickly behind the cold front on Wednesday, making the weather for Thanksgiving gorgeous. Lots of sunshine through the afternoon and cool temperatures. Most started the day in the 40s and only warmed into the upper 60s to low 70s for the afternoon. The strong wind out of the north will continue Friday, so unseasonably cool temperatures stick around. Although we will see temperatures some 10 degrees below average for this time of year heading into Friday, we’ll soon find a warming trend upon us helping return Central Florida to more seasonable levels this weekend.

Clear and chilly conditions will unfold overnight with widespread lows close to 40 degrees inland; coastal locations will fall to the middle 40s. Those venturing out to do some Black Friday shopping will find no interruptions from the weather, just sunshine and breezy northwest winds. A reinforcing shot of cooler air may knock the highs down several degrees compared to Thursday. Highs will run in the middle to low 60s for most locations inland extending toward the coast.

High pressure will then anchor itself across the southeastern United States, providing a stretch of pleasant weather with warmer temperatures through the weekend. Highs will get a little warmer each afternoon. Readings around 70 degrees on Saturday followed by middle 70s Sunday. More seasonable upper 70s will resume for the start of the upcoming workweek. The dry and stable air mass will prevent any storms or cold fronts from reaching us during this time, so rain will be absent from the forecast at least for another week.

We are in the final days of Atlantic Hurricane Season and much of the Atlantic basin is quiet. No tropical development is expected between now and Nov. 30.
