Warm southerly flow remains in place across Central Florida in advance of an approaching cold front slated to move through late Tuesday and early Wednesday.  With the wind pulling in some warmer air, highs Monday afternoon were able to climb into the middle to upper 80s.  Daytona Beach and Orlando broke the old records with highs of 87 degrees and Melbourne tied the record of 88 degrees.  Temperatures will begin a downward trend Tuesday along with widely scattered showers and thunderstorms as the cold front moves into North Florida.

Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast through the overnight hours.  Most will remain dry, but there will be a chance for a few showers to develop as we head toward daybreak.  Temperatures will be mild, dropping only into the upper 60s to low 70s. Tuesday will bring widespread rain as the front slides across the peninsula. This will create some soggy pre-Thanksgiving travel for anyone hitting the road to get to their destination prior to the holiday. The chance for rain Tuesday stands at 80 percent. Cloud cover and wet weather will hold temperatures in the middle to upper 70s for most, although cooler air will begin to infiltrate the northern counties; highs will only be in the low 70s in Flagler and Marion counties.

The front will be pulled through Florida late Tuesday and early Wednesday with the potential for showers and thunderstorms into early Wednesday. Strong northwest winds behind the front Wednesday will send a cooler and drier air mass into Central Florida, also providing more favorable travel weather on the day before Thanksgiving plus the actual holiday. High pressure will stick around through the rest of the holiday weekend with ample sunshine and unseasonably cool temperatures to start, although a warming trend will arrive by the weekend. Thanksgiving Day will be sunny, cool and dry with highs in the middles 60s; middle to upper 70s will return on Saturday and Sunday.

No activity is occurring in the tropics as we have now entered the final week of hurricane season. The Atlantic Hurricane Season officially ends Nov. 30.
