There are many suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of 22-year-old Timothy Englehardt.

The promising meteorology student was about to graduate from Embry-Riddle and had even had a job lined-up following graduation. But his friends say he committed suicide at their house on Sept. 13.

In a five-minute 911 call, a woman on the phone said it was an accident and her friend was depressed.

Caller: “My friend shot himself.  We think he's dead. He shot himself.”

And then you hear her talking to her boyfriend. He owns the gun used in Englehardt's death.

Boyfriend: "I didn't kill him!"
Caller: “No you didn’t... relax, you didn’t..."

So was it suicide, an accidental shooting or a homicide? Holly Hill Police Chief Stephen Aldrich said they are still waiting for evidence to be processed.

“There’s some loose ends there that we need to get verified, information we were given,” Aldrich said.

One of the key pieces of evidence to be processed the gun, which was not found within Englehardt's reach, but Chief Aldrich wouldn’t say where it was found.

“It’s still an open investigation," Aldrich said. "The gun was located inside the home, but that’s just one more aspect of what we are looking at in the totality of the circumstances of [his] death."

Aldrich said they are hoping to conclude the investigation within the next month. There were four people inside the home other than Englehardt who all knew each other from Embry-Riddle.

They have been cooperating with investigators, according to Aldrich.

But we have learned since Englehardt's death in September, they have moved out of the home on Clifton Avenue.

Englehardt's parents told us their son wouldn’t commit suicide and describe him as a happy, outgoing young man.  We spoke with them Friday. They said they are happy the story is getting national attention, and they hope for answers soon.
