An Orange County mother is behind bars charged in the death of her two-year-old daughter.

Over the weekend, deputies got an emergency call that the little girl wasn’t breathing.

On Monday, Investigators said the two-year-old little girl named Aaliyah Seymore died from blunt force trauma to the head.

When 23-year-old Amanda Berard was asked by reporters if she killed her child, she screamed one word: no.

Berard didn’t have much more to say on her way to jail but deputies from Orange County Sheriff’s Office said they believe that two-year-old Aaliyah Seymore was killed sometime between last Friday and last Saturday inside the Buchanan Bay Townhomes, off Texas Avenue near Americana Boulevard in Orange County.

It’s a time period during which investigators said Berard admitted she was the only one watching her child.

“We’re still going through interviews but we do believe she is responsible for the injury caused to her child," said Detective Eric Debose.

The mother was arrested and charged with second degree murder on Monday, after her two-year-old daughter’s death was ruled a homicide. Investigators said the mother’s roommate, who was babysitting on Saturday, called 911 when she realized something was wrong.

"The caretaker was with the baby, when the baby started to show symptoms and that’s why she notified medical personnel," Debose explained.

We’ve learned Berard's other child is in DCF protective custody. Berard is being held without bond at the Orange County Jail.
