Two people have been arrested after they accidentally gave a 6-year-old child morphine instead of medication, according to a Seminole County Sheriff's Office report.

Lorena Oikle and Axel Rosa are being charged with child neglect and possession of cocaine and marijuana, deputies said.

Oikle told investigators she meant to give the boy an antibiotic for an ear infection around 7 p.m. Monday, but she accidentally gave him morphine that was in a bottle similar to the antibiotic bottle.

Oikle, according to the report, realized she made a mistake, but the child was "acting normal," so she decided to watch the child instead of taking him to the hospital.

Around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oikle checked on the boy and noticed he vomited and was unresponsive.

The boy woke up, and Oikle called 911, the report states. The boy was doing "much better," a Seminole County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said Thursday.
