LakeXpress buses have been searched and cleared after a bomb threat Thursday morning halted service, which resumed just before noon.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, no devices or suspicious packages were located.

All fixed-route bus services were temporarily suspended during the investigation, which the bus service said also involved Leesburg police.

The Sheriff's Office took the lead in the investigation, as the bomb squad searched eight LakeXpress buses, including one in the parking lot at the Southside Shopping Center, off U.S. Highway 27 in Leesburg.

UPDATE: 10:43 a.m.

Latest from the Lake County Sheriff's Office:

At around 7:15 this morning a LakeXpress bus driver was approached by two as yet unknown males on bicycles. The two males told the driver that a bomb was on a Lake Express bus in the Leesburg area and would go off later in the day.

Our bomb squad has completed the search of several buses in the Leesburg area; nothing was found.

Out of an abundance of caution two other buses in the Eustis area are being searched by our bomb squad.

A total of eight buses will have been searched when our bomb squad finishes their operation.

The buses are being released back to LakeXpress once they are cleared so I have no information on service interruption, schedules etc.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the two individuals on bicycles is encouraged to contact our office at (352) 343-2101. Our investigators will be following up on this case throughout the day.

Service will be resuming as usual.
