Believe it or not, it has snowed in Florida -- and we're not talking about that fake, soapy stuff at Disney World every Christmas.

Snow flurries fell Friday morning in the Pensacola area. People in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, in the northwestern Florida Panhandle, reported snow sightings, along with sleet Friday.

The National Weather Service in Mobile, Ala. observed snow and ice pellets along Florida's northwestern Gulf Coast on Friday.

Though the ground was too warm for the snow to accumulate, reports of a Florida flurry accumulated quickly on Twitter. One photo tweeted by @oliverrhudy included the caption: "Pensacola Snow Storm, 01/24/2014, Never Forget."

Snow in Central Florida is not unheard of. In January 2010, light snow flurries fell in and around Orlando, Daytona Beach, Melbourne and Ocala. Isolated flurries were even reported as far south as Miami-Dade County.
