The man accused of gunning down Brevard County Deputy Barbara Pill will now go on trial in February.

Brandon Bradley is charged with first-degree murder, accused of fatally shooting Deputy Pill during a traffic stop in March 2012.

Prosecutors Monday asked for a continuance in the trial against Brandon Bradley, which was scheduled to start Jan. 27. They said they needed more time to go over a long list the defense has come up with of additional expert witnesses.

The judge said jury selection will now begin Feb. 25 with testimony most likely starting the first week of March.

The judge heard a number of motions, mostly from the defense who filed 46 motions. They only got through 20 of those.

Most of the motions have to do with the death penalty. The state is seeking capital punishment. The judge denied most of those motions.

The defense also wanted to move the trial out of Brevard County. The judge reserved that ruling. It will be decided at a future hearing. The defense is also asked to sequester the jury, and that motion was denied. The judge will hear the other 26 motions on February 21st.

Deputy Barbara Pill's family was in court, as was fellow Brevard county sheriff officers. They all declined to comment at this time, saying they did not want I jeopardize the trial.

The other person charged in the killing, Andria Kerchner, will be back in court next week where she is expected to take a plea deal in exchange for testifying against Bradley in his trial.
