All lanes are back open on I-95 in Brevard County around 10 hours after a semi-truck crashed, caught fire and spilled fuel on the southbound side of the interstate.

The crash happened around 1 a.m. Friday near the Beachline, starting a fire in a nearby wooded area. All but one lane was shut down for the entire morning commute.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a semi-tractor trailer hauling styrofoam cups and plates driven by Walter Stargell, 48, of College Park, Georgia was traveling South in the outside lane and for an unknown reason traveled into the emergency lane and struck a semi-tractor trailer car carrier that was on the side of the road due to a flat tire.

Troopers said the impact of the crash threw debris towards a pick-up truck that was traveling with the semi-tractor trailer car carrier and parked in front of it. Both of the vehicles caught fire

FHP said the semi-truck then traveled off the roadway and struck trees and shrubs starting a fire.

Brevard County Fire Rescue said all the vehicles were fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. All three vehicles were destroyed.

The two men who were operating the trucks that were parked on the side of the road were identified by FHP as Alejandro Sigler, 48, of Hialeah and Fernando Camacho, 49, of Deltona.

Investigators said Camacho suffered minor injuries and one firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat-exhaustion. The district chief says he should be OK.
