Troy Victorino, the man investigators called the ringleader of the 2004 Deltona Mass Murder, is now trying to get his conviction for murder overturned by the Florida Supreme Court.

The court will hear arguments in the case Thursday.

In 2004, Volusia County Sheriff's investigators say Victorino and three other men went to a home in Deltona and beat six people and a dog to death. Investigators say the men were taking revenge against one of the victims, Erin Belanger, who kicked Troy Victorino out of her grandmother's home. Investigators say Victorino and a group of people were squatting there.

Victorino allegedly claimed Belanger stole some of his belongings, including an XBox. That is why the massacre is often referred to as the XBox murders.

Victorino and the three other men were convicted, and Victorino was sentenced to death in 2006.

Victorino, however, says his lawyer should have objected to a 911 tape being played for the jury, or objecting to a prosecutor asking the jury to imagine what the victims felt.

The Deltona Mass Murder is considered one of the bloodiest in Volusia County's history.
