George Zimmerman's defense team is not giving up on getting a chance to question the attorney for Trayvon Martin's family.

Just last month, Judge Debra Nelson denied the defense's request to depose attorney Benjamin Crump. Now, Zimmerman's lawyers are asking the judge to reconsider her ruling.

The defense said several new key pieces of evidence have surfaced, making it more necessary and relevant to depose Crump.

One of their arguments deals with a girlfriend of Trayvon Martin's known only as "Witness 8." Investigators said the teen was on the phone with the witness moments before the confrontation with Zimmerman, who shot and killed Martin on Feb. 26, 2012.

Defense attorneys pointed out that at a hearing earlier in March, a state attorney admitted the girlfriend lied under oath when she said she was at a hospital right after the shooting.

In a motion filed Monday, attorney Mark O'Mara said that lie raises questions about the truthfulness of other parts of her testimony.

Crump has interviewed Witness 8, and defense attorneys want to question Crump about that under oath.
