A Brevard County man is under arrest after holding his family hostage for several hours at knife point.

It happened overnight at a home on Bianca Drive Northeast in Palm Bay.

The Palm Bay Police Department said the man got into an argument with his wife and then barricaded himself in his home with four kids inside around 9:45 p.m. Sunday.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office SWAT responded to the scene as police negotiators worked get the man to let his family go and surrender.

"After several attempts to make contact, we were able to get all four children outside at which time we were able to make contact with the suspect," said Lt. Chris Imel from the Palm Bay Police Department.

The man, who has not been identified, is now facing multiple charges. His wife and children were not hurt.
