A body found by a passerby in a wooded area of Daytona Beach was that of a missing man believed to have been kidnapped.

Police said that person smelled something, went into the woods and found a man's body face down wearing only his underwear.

Orlando police were at the scene because the body is believed to be 39-year-old Jim Johnson Jr., a Clermont man who was last seen Friday at Goolies Barber Shop, on Orange Blossom Trail.

Daytona Beach police are taking the lead on the investigation, treating it as a homicide.

Since Johnson disappeared, his family has made emotional pleas through the media to help find him.

His vehicle was recovered at an apartment complex parking lot in the area of Hiawassee Road and Colonial Drive.

Jonhnson's body was taken by the medical examiner.

The Orlando Police Department said they would help the Daytona Beach Police Department with the investigation into Johnson’s death, as needed.
