The Falcon 9 rocket launch was once again scrubbed after technical glitches kept it on the pad.

The 224-foot tall SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is waiting for launch at Pad 40 here at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The large rocket didn't launch in a first attempt Monday because of a technical glitch. SpaceX tried twice to launch the rocket Thursday with no luck.

The rocket will now likely be brought back to the launch hangar. SpaceX likely will not try to launch again for another few days.

The rocket is carrying SES 8, a 7,055-pound telecommunications satellite for a Luxembourg firm.

It will provide communications for the Asia Pacific region -- and do so for the next 15 years.

The mission is a first for SpaceX. Right now the company has three cargo missions to the International Space Station -- but none like bringing up a large satellite to orbit.

The last Thanksgiving launch was more than five decades ago. A Titan rocket exploded on the pad. It never launched, so now we stand here today awaiting what could be the first time a rocket will successfully liftoff from the Cape on Thanksgiving.
