Police said they found a badly decomposed body in a Holly Hill home where a Volusia County couple and their three young children were living for weeks, collecting the dead woman's Social Security benefits and using her debit card.

Holly Hill Police said officers entered a home Thursday on Center Avenue, near 7th Street, after someone called about a foul odor coming from the home.

Inside, police said they found animal feces all over the home, which had no running water. They also found bath salts inside the home.

The children were taken into custody by the Florida Department of Children and families. Their parents, Todd La Duke and Nicole Scalise, were arrested on charges of child neglect, theft and failure to report the death of the woman, whose body was found locked in a bedroom.

Police said they believe the dead woman is Tiffany Kain, who had spina bifida and used a wheelchair. The family had been living with Kain on and off for years.

LaDuke, 38, and Scalise, 31, admitted to collecting the woman's Social Security benefits, but they said they didn't know she was dead inside her room, claiming they thought she had left the home, which she had done in the past.
