Doug Guetzloe, the anti-tax crusader convicted for failing to file tax returns, must report to prison and serve his sentence.

A judge ruled Thursday that Guetzloe must report to a federal prison in Atlanta by September 4 for the start of his 15 month sentence.

Guetzloe, the founder of Ax the Tax and a political consultant, was convicted in February for not filing tax returns in 2005 and 2006. He had earned about $375,000 for consulting work for groups that included the Orlando Magic and the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority.

His attorney claimed Guetzloe was never told that it was a federal crime not to file those returns, but the jury didn't buy that.

Guetzloe's public defender had filed a request in court asking for more time toaddress medical issues, including a heart condition.

The judge said he had all the time he needed.
