One trial down, and another to go for Malcom Thompson.

Wednesday, the suspended Osceola County clerk of courts was acquitted of battery on charges that he hit one of his aides.

Thompson, 62, now faces a second trial starting Thursday on a separate charge of hitting another co-worker.

Gov. Rick Scott had removed Thompson from office in January after the charges were filed against him.

Thompson had served as Osceola County's clerk of courts since 2009.
