Family, friends and now community members are urging Sanford police to make an arrest in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

A small group of protesters stood outside the police department with a question for Sanford police:

Why hasn't George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who admitted to police to killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, been arrested for murder?

Family members are also asking Sanford police to release the 911 tapes from that night.

On those tapes, they say George Zimmerman, called police and reported Trayvon as a suspicious person over All-Star Weekend last month.

Family members claim police told Zimmerman to let officers handle the situation.

But when police got there, they found Trayvon suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Family members say the teenager was unarmed and was walking back from a convenience store after buying some Skittles and something to drink.

“Because of the injustice. That's why I'm here an innocent baby, his life was taken, for no reason at all. A decision a person made decided to make,” said Michael Medlock.

“No, I don't know the family. But I feel badly for them. Especially when a young life is taken, I feel bad about the potential of that life,” said David Brownyard.

The neighborhood watch captain, George Zimmerman, was questioned by police.

We're told he's claiming self-defense.

Sanford police investigators should finish sometime next week, and then they'll turn the case over to the State Attorney's Office, who will decide whether to charge George Zimmerman with murder.
