Four families got help for Christmas thanks to a group of local bloggers and Kohl's department store.
Kohl's provided the bloggers with gift cards to shop at Kohl's. The items had to be donated locally.
Originally, Kohl's was only providing one gift card. But Melanie Edwards with Modern Mami convinced the company's publicist to get more gift cards.
"Everyone should be able to enjoy the holidays; I only wish we could have helped out more families," Edwards said.
Edwards, and bloggers Lee Allport with My Sentiment Exactlee, Jessica Kirby with Unemployed Mom and Jennifer Burg with Suburban Mom then went even further -- contacting companies they already work with to get additional donations.
"Working with top brands and having the ability to spread Holiday cheer this year reminded me that all my hard work pays off in the best ways," Lee Allport said. "And remember, these organizations need help all year long and not just during the Holidays"
Two of the families were suggested by Catholic Charities, another was from New Image Youth Center. A fourth was suggested by the school distict.
