The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run near Patrick Air Force Base.
Troopers said a 34-year-old Cocoa Beach woman was found lying on the side of northbound A1A, near 33rd Street at about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Troopers were still on the scene of the incident late in the morning.
According to a report, the woman was walking on the grass shoulder when an unknown vehicle heading north left the roadway and hit her sometime between the hours of 2 and 5 a.m.
The woman's identity has not been released and the crash is still under investigation.
