George Zimmerman will send a handwritten thank you card to anyone who donates money to help pay for his living expenses and legal costs.

An announcement was posted Wednesday on Zimmerman's Legal Defense Fund website, saying the cards were his request, and will be personally signed by Zimmerman.

"The identity of all donors will continue to be kept strictly confidential, and the envelope of the thank you cards will not have any reference to Mr. Zimmerman or the O'Mara Law Group," the announcement said.

Included was a photo of a folded card with a plain, black front with the name "George Zimmerman" printed in white. The inside of the card pictured read, "Thank you for your support," and was signed: "Your friend, George Z."

The website said the fund's balance was at its lowest, and more money must be raised to help Zimmerman pay for his living expenses and legal costs.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder for the death of Trayvon Martin in February. He is scheduled to go to trial in June 2013.

The fund was said to be under new management, who will take a more affirmative fundraising approach.

According to Wednesday's announcement, a new website is in the works, and there will be full disclosure of how funds are spent.
