A 60-year-old Pinellas Park man died after his house caught fire Friday night.

  • Victim identified as Gilbert Murphy
  • No signs of suspicious activity 

Fire Rescue responded to the home on Terrace North around 7:35 p.m. where they found Gilbert Murphy unresponsive inside a bedroom in the home. 

Murphy was resuscitated on scene and transported to Northside Hospital. 

Officials said Murphy was unable to completely recover and was later pronounced deceased. 

Fire officials said there are no signs of suspicious activity. Initial reports indicate that food on the stove had possibly caught fire. 

The Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The State Fire Marshal continues to investigate.
