A 14-year-old male was charged Tuesday with making a school shooting threat to a Manatee County high school.

Authorities said a student found a threatening note on Feb. 15 targeting Manatee High School.

The note indicates that on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at 12:15 p.m. a shooting will occur on the Manatee High School campus.

Bradenton police investigated the threat which led them to the teen who confessed to making the threat.

Bradenton police Lt. Brian Thiers said the boy's motive is unknown at this time.

The student was charged with making a false report concerning planting a bomb, an explosive, or a weapon of mass destruction, or concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner.

Authorities also said another note was found on Tuesday, threatening violence at the school at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday. Thiers said the threat, which is more generic than the other one, is being taken seriously.
