  • Event promotes police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make local neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live.

The NNO will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 6 p.m. — 8 p.m. at the Temple Terrace Family Recreation Complex, 6610 Whiteway Drive.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities in all 50 states. While most parts of the country celebrate the first Tuesday in August, Texas and Florida observe NNO in October.

The Temple Terrace celebration will include fun activities for families and kids of all ages including a rock climbing wall, a bounce house, sand art and face painting. Pizza, smoothies, ice cream and other treats will be provided. All festivities are free and open to the public.

There also will be demonstrations by SWAT and Police K-9s and their handlers, as well as a helicopter landing by Aero-Med. Members of both the Police and Temple Terrace Fire Departments will be on hand along with other City officials to greet visitors, take photos and answer questions.
