The Tampa Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a Family Dollar store on Sunday, Sept. 17 and are asking for the public's help in identifying the armed suspect.

Police said the man robbed the store, located at 4900 North 40th Street, around 6 p.m. on Sunday. The surveillance video shows the man approach the register holding an unknown object in his right hand, believed to be a gun, with what appeared to be a black t-shirt draped over it.
The suspect pointed the object at a store clerk and demanded money from both registers. The store clerks complied and filled a shopping bag with money out of the registers.
Police said the suspect then fled the scene with the stolen cash and got into a gold Nissan Maxima that was waiting for him directly behind the business along Louisiana Street.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 5'10"-6' with either scarring or acne on his face.
Anyone with information on the suspect or the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477 and may be eligible for a cash reward.
