Crews have been cleaning out debris from the massive Land O' Lakes sinkhole that swallowed two homes for the past few days.

Seven homes have been put on notice for demolition.

But there is some good news -- important items have been uncovered from the 250-foot-wide sinkhole.

Since Sunday, contractors at the sinkhole have uncovered a significant amount of cash, a file cabinet, important documents and a computer the family says was still working.

"It was not submerged in water, and it was inside the home, underneath the collapsed roof," Kevin Guthrie, assistant county administrator for public safety, said of the computer.

The families who lived in the homes gave the crews instructions on where the items might be, and unbelievably crews found some in the deep hole that still has water in it.

"The families have been telling us, 'Hey, there’s something really important, there’s important papers, there's an important computer, there's cash in my freezer,'" Guthrie said. "Different things like that, so we kind of knew where things were at. We even had people diagram where things would be at in the house."

The county is celebrating the little things that could help these families whose lives have been turned upside down.

Once all the debris is pulled out from the sinkhole, the county says it will bring it to the landfill where the families can go through it.

So far, United Way of Pasco has raised more than $40,000 for three families.
