Tracilea Young was inspired to open Tetra Health Care in California in 2015 after tragedy struck her own family.

"The father of my 8 children was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer," Young said. "When you go through that experience, you immediately go into shock."

When Young’s loved one didn’t respond well to chemotherapy, they tried an alternative treatment. It inspired her to open a health care center where patients can see a licensed doctor about obtaining cannabis as a form of treatment.

"Our doctors are so educated on cannabis and medical marijuana's uses for different conditions," Young said.

Tetra Health Care doesn’t carry any actual products -- just plenty of information. A patient brings in medical records, a Florida identification card, and proof of residency. They’ll then meet with a physician, who follows specific guidelines to determine if they qualify for a cannabis prescription.

"These are people who have pain they have neurological conditions, muscle spasms, ALS, they have real issues, real diseases," Dr. Howard Riker said.

Physicians will then write a recommendation for treatment, and staff helps walk patients through the process to get registered through the state. Patients can then fill their orders at any dispensary.

"There's many people that are living out the balance of their life, some terminal, some debilitating condition [sic], and those people are in need," Young said.

Young has opened six Tetra Health Clinic locations across the state of Florida, and plans to open more. Five of the current locations are in the Tampa Bay area - three in Hillsborough County and two in Pinellas County.
