The 21-year-old Lakeland native said getting drafted into the NBA was a dream come true.

“All of my life I’ve been working toward a specific goal and to finally reach it is amazing to me,” said Bacon.

The Florida State standout said he’s busy searching for an apartment in Charlotte and preparing for training camp, which starts in September.

“I’m taking it day by day and still reading my bible verses and keeping it as that,” Bacon said.

He recently signed a three-year contract with the Hornets. Bacon said he also signed a contract to be a Jordan Brand Athlete.

“All my life I’ve been wearing his shoes. It’s a blessing to me," he said. "I just got to wear their brand and represent it the best way I can and that’s what I’m looking to do.”

Bacon said the two text frequently.

“Jordan was one of my idols. One of the best players. To me the best player to ever play the game. After, I watch his film. So, just being up under him is amazing to me. That’s something I always wanted to be. And I’m happy that I can do it,” Bacon said.

Bacon said he’s doesn’t plan to move to Charlotte until sometime in August.
