Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Friday into Saturday morning, with a look at the rest of the weekend and the early part of next week.

  • Storms along coastal areas
  • Numerous showers, storms for tomorrow
  • Seasonable temperatures

Showers and storms have began to quiet down. They began early this afternoon, and a few of those storms have been strong - in Polk County, for example, we received reports of nickel-sized hail.

The movement with these storms have been almost stationary, and some spots could have picked up anywhere from 2-3 inches already with no real steering direction for these storms to go.

A few scattered thunderstorms will linger this evening then it will be partly cloudy overnight. Low temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Boundaries will set up along the coast from today's storms, and storms will ramp back up in the morning hours Saturday, lasting throughout the afternoon.

It will likely be the same set up as Thursday, with numerous heavy showers and storms developing with the heat of the day and lasting through afternoon and evening.

The storms will move east with the sea breeze each afternoon with light winds each day. The rain chance for Saturday is 60 percent and the rain chance for Sunday is 50 percent with a little less coverage.

Highs will be in the low 90s. Overnight lows will be in the upper 70s.

The surface high will remain over the central to southern Florida peninsula into next week while a frontal boundary lies to our north. This pattern provides our area with light and variable to southwest winds with a sea breeze developing each day.

Scattered storms are expected with the rain chance around 40 percent beginning Monday.

It will be hot with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s Monday through Thursday.

TROPICAL

No development is expected at this time, just a cluster of thunderstorms is located in the far Eastern Atlantic.
