With moisture in place, scattered storms will be the rule today and Monday.

  • High rain chances this week
  • Winds stay light
  • Sea breezes each day

Slow-moving evening storms will end. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly clear overnight. Lows will again be in the upper 70s around Tampa Bay to low/mid 70s north.

On Monday, the high pressure on the surface and aloft that has been just east of Florida, moves southeast over the Atlantic as a weak cold front pushes southeast over north Florida. This pattern provides a slight southwest flow and brings deep layer moisture overhead.  Showers and storms will develop near the coast and will shift inland during the afternoon.  The rain chance is 60 percent. High temperatures will come down a little into the upper 80s to around 90.

By Tuesday the front becomes stationary over north Florida. A moist and unstable atmosphere will lead to numerous thunderstorms. Storms may develop early along the coast, and will build inland during the day. Skies will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy.

By Wednesday, the stationary front weakens and high pressure builds in from the east. The dominant wind flow becomes southeast. So thunderstorms will tend to develop on the east coast and will work toward the Gulf Coast by the evening.

This pattern will continue into the weekend. So expect storms a little later in the day, especially for the coastal counties.

- The leading edge of the cool air mass will become nearly stationary from the southeast U.S. coast down along the Gulf Coast and westward into the southern Rockies for the next few days.  This will keep scattered showers and thunderstorms around these areas into Monday. Thunderstorms should be somewhat more numerous from New Mexico into western Texas.

- A tropical wave over the Lesser Antilles, is bringing showers and thunderstorms. This area of rain will move west into the southern Caribbean Monday.
