A former Florida Supreme Court Justice died in his Tallahassee home on Sunday.

Parker Lee McDonald was 93-years-old. He was appointed to the state’s highest court in 1979.

His portrait still hangs in the Supreme Court gallery.

Justice McDonald is known for a decision that prevented lawyers from excluding jurors based on race.

He was nicknamed the “whistling justice” because on his first day on the job, a security guard told him whistling was not allowed in the building.

McDonald responded saying he could do what he wanted because he was a justice.
