A Pasco County truck driver just earned the title of "Best 3-axle Semi-Truck Driver" in Florida ... as a rookie competitor.

  • Danny Bradley a truck driver for 30 years
  • Competition included written test, inspection, driving
  • Bradley will now compete at Nationals in Orlando

Danny Bradley also earned the title "Rookie of the Year" after his win at the Florida Truck Driving Championships in Daytona.

“It’s hard to believe the "Rookie of the Year" has 30 years’ experience,” laughed Bradley.

With Bradley’s 30 years of driving, he has covered over 2 million miles. He has worked at Walmart for the past five years, and has had 500,000 accident free miles.

That track record is part of why he took home the title in Daytona a couple weeks ago. The competition included a written test, inspection for defects, and, of course, driving.

“Basically doing the opposite of what we do every day," said Bradley while describing the driving portion of the competition. "We try to stay away from objects, in this particular sense we try to get as close as we can to objects and score points."

Though Daytona was Bradley’s first competition, it doesn’t appear it will be his last.

“Yes, I have to go back and defend,” said Bradley with a smile.

Bradley will be competing again well before he has to defend his state title, however. His next event will pit him against drivers from all over the country at the National Truck Driving Championships August 9-12 in Orlando.
