Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, with a preview of the weekend and next week.

  • Cindy moving away
  • Sunnier, hotter
  • Primarily afternoon storms

Tropical storm Cindy has moved far enough away that it now has very little to do with our weather. It did, however, leave enough moisture in our atmosphere to trigger the scattered storms we saw out there today.

Overnight into early Thursday morning will be partly cloudy, with a lingering shower or storm possible. Otherwise just expect warm, muggy conditions with lows not dropping past the mid to upper 70s.

Thursday will be the first day where it feels more like our typical summer. It will be sunnier and much hotter, with highs getting back to the low 90s.

The first part of the day will be quiet, with clouds slowly building. Scattered storms will form in the afternoon and drift toward our coast and into the gulf by the evening. The coverage of storms will be at about 40 percent.

Thursday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the low to mid 70s.

Friday will feature even drier air, so expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and hot temperatures reaching the low to mid 90s. There will be some afternoon scattered storms, but the coverage will only be at about 20 percent.
