You may love to eat oysters, but do you know how to shuck them?

  • St. Pete restaurant offers Oyster 101 class
  • Learn about all things oysters at Sea Salt
  • Oyster 101 is a fun, interactive cooking class

Sea Salt at the Sundial in St. Petersburg is teaching all things oysters at its Oyster 101 class.

“Anytime you eat an oyster you want to make sure it’s beautiful, plump and still very briny and full of that water and not dried out,” Executive Chef Kenny Tufo said.

Tufo said Oyster 101 is one of the most interactive and fun cooking classes the restaurant offers.

“We take down the glass and everyone sits around the raw bar and they get to interact one on one with the chef on how to open an oyster,” Tufo said. “We talk about the types of oysters, the difference in oysters.”

The next class is Saturday, June 24th at 11 a.m.

Sea Salt also has an Oyster Club. For a one-time payment of $20 you will get a passport for reporting on and describing oysters eaten at the restaurant. Once the passport is complete, you will receive a $50 gift card. A portion of the proceeds are donated to Tampa Bay Watch.
